Challenger Baseball provides an opportunity for children and teenagers with cognitive or physical disabilities to enjoy the thrill of playing baseball, to be part of a team, to develop physical and social skill plus all the benefits of participation in baseball at a level structured to their abilities.

Individuals develop a sense of belonging, lasting friendships are built and strengthened and the level of fun and enjoyment of life is enhanced. Buddies assist players during the game, however, the priority of the buddies is to encourage the player to participate to the maximum of their ability. Baseball rules are adapted as required to match players' abilities so that participation and teamwork are emphasized.

Challenger games are played in a fun, safe environment where no score is kept. Our philosophy is very simple: 'Play, just for fun!!'
The Brampton Challenger Baseball program is run by a group of dedicated volunteers.

2025 Brampton Challenger Baseball fees are $40/player

Players will be provided with a team jersey and baseball cap. We encourage players to wear their hat and jersey to games.  A season-ending party and team pictures are also included in the $40 fee.

Player fees cover diamond permits, equipment, uniforms, baseballs, bats, helmets, catchers gear, batting tees, coaches and buddy training, insurance, Vulnerable Sector Search charges for volunteers and Challenger Baseball Charter Fees.

Brampton Challenger Baseball is open to players aged 5-18.

During the online registration process, parents/guardians are asked questions about their child's needs.  We encourage parents to provide as much information as possible about any specific needs their player may have to ensure we're able to provide the best experience possible for each player.

Games will be played at our Field of Dreams diamond in Brampton located at Williams Pkwy & Bramalea Rd.

Yes! Our Field of Dreams diamond is accessible. Nearby parking and washroom facilities are also accessible.

Our season will run from the end of May through mid-August. Approx 12 games, weather permitting.

Players can bring a baseball glove with them or borrow one of our gloves. Players are encouraged to wear athletic footwear (metal spikes are not allowed) and wear jogging or track pants to games. Batting helmets are optional.

Games will be one hour long and will be played once a week on Wednesday evenings. Our permit extends beyond the one hour game and players are welcome to stay after the game to continue practicing their skills.

For the 2025 season, games will be played on Wednesday evenings at 6pm.

Contact information for coaches and Brampton Challenger Baseball administration will be provided to player families prior to the season starting. Please contact your coach in advance if your child isn't able to make it to a game.

Coaches and Brampton Challenger Baseball administration will communicate cancellations via email and social media (Twitter and Facebook).

Players will be contacted in May with further details on diamond location, confirmation of game time and contact info for coaches.

Yes, each player will be paired with a volunteer buddy.

Buddies assist Challenger players with their involvement in the game.  This can include pushing a wheelchair around the base path, assisting players in how to hold the bat and swing, or providing protection for a Challenger player from a batted ball.  The priority of the buddy is to encourage the player to participate to the maximum of their ability and to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.

Buddies provide a mentoring role, helping their partners with catching, throwing, batting and getting around the bases.  Challenger players enjoy the thrill of participation and buddies experience first-hand the challenges these individuals face in their daily lives.

All Challenger Baseball volunteers 18 years of age and older are required to have a current Vulnerable Sector Search on file with Brampton Challenger Baseball. The cost for the search will be reimbursed by Brampton Challenger Baseball.

Yes! We will have a Challenger Baseball season ending party.

Yes! Teams will have a group picture taken during the season and each player will receive a copy of their team picture.

There will not be a practice scheduled outside of our weekly games.  Prior to each game, there will be a warmup and an opportunity to practice individual skills.

Yes, a parent or guardian is required to stay during games.  If a game is called early for any reason, it is imperative that a parent or guardian be there to provide the player with access to a ride home.  Also, in the case of an accident, a parent or guardian must be in attendance to assist their son or daughter.

Brampton Challenger Baseball registration is open to residents of Brampton.  If there is room for additional players, registration will be opened to non-residents and applicable non-resident fees will apply.
